The scenes out of Chicago should outrage us all. These federal agents are out of control, committing senseless acts of violence & putting everyone at risk.

American citizens are being detained & brutalized.

This kind of immigration "enforcement" shouldn't be acceptable to anyone.

Yes a modest fare increase will probably be part of a funding package but fares cant pay for the entire cost of operations. People who ride and don’t ride both benefit from transit. Public transit is a public good. The traffic congestion would be outrageous if there was no transit.

Subway announcements as public art! Love this reframing to encourage community in public spaces instead of only fear of others. There are also sonic elements in healing tones. www.nytimes.com/2025/09/06/a...

The transit fight is in the suburbs, y’all!

We need your help reaching folks. We’re having tons of fruitful conversations — letting people know for the first time that this is not just a City issue, but that it will also affect their Metra trips.

And we need to reach many more.

Now that STB has guaranteed Metra access to the UP lines, we should make a serious play to purchase the UP-N and UP-NW lines outright. Can’t imagine UP would object too strenuously to offloading some very low-volume freight lines ahead of the NS buyout.

“Noting sharp differences between the two sides’ views on compensation, the board says it “expects and encourages Metra and UP to undertake a concerted, good-faith effort to reach agreement,”

SEPTA transit cuts in Philadelphia: "timing couldn't be worse from an economic development strategy standpoint." They will decimate the "nighttime economy" and special events like the FIFA World Cup and celebration of the Declaration of Independence in 2026. www.bondbuyer.com/news/septas-...

"Every community, from Chicago to old-line suburbs like Evanston and Oak Park to more far-flung and newer suburban communities, should have a contribution to make in offering shelter more people can afford to buy." www.chicagotribune.com/2025/09/01/e...
Editorial: More housing density on the tony North Shore remains elusive in practice
It’s not just Chicago. An affordable housing debate is well underway on the North Shore, too.

This #77 Belmont bus is packed at 1 pm on a Saturday. How bad will crowding be if transit service gets cut? Let’s not find out. ##fixitfundit. The Illinois General Assembly needs to pass a solution this fall in veto session. We can do this - we have a democratic supermajority. Let’s go!
