Having grown up in THE most conservative district in Tennessee (1st) this story should not have surprised me yet it brought up a little vomit and then a vurp. This news story takes place in slightly less conservative TN district 6.

1/ Courts are supposed to assign judges. Prosecutors are not. As Kenneth Wainstein notes, we are no longer in a “normal time” where courts can automatically afford DOJ a presumption of regularity—that prosecutors act lawfully and in good faith.
