Delighted to share that our paper solving the age-old mystery of whether and how VH-replacement shapes the antibody repertoire is in @embojournal.org

Fantastic work from Harry White, @peterch405.bsky.social @babraham-bioinf.bsky.social @babrahaminst.bsky.social
This shows an antibody heavy chain successfully pairing with a surrogate light chain and signalling B cell progression. In contrast a non-pairing heavy chain fails to signal, the B cell stalls, and the suboptimal V gene is replaced by an upstream V to make a pairing heavy chain and rescue the B cell.

NEWS | Work just published by the Corcoran lab has described a mechanism estimated to be responsible for shaping the generation of up to half of all antibodies.

How discovery research and collaboration between the @mrclmb.bsky.social, University of Cambridge, Babraham Institute, and clinicians from Addenbrooke’s identified the mutation that causes a rare immune disorder (APDS) and led to a pioneering treatment giving patients "a new lease of life".

Recently, leniolisib, a lifechanging new treatment for a rare immune disorder became available on the NHS.

We think its story is a great example of what curiosity-driven biomedical research can achieve when it's nurtured long term.
