Yeah I posted earlier I’m not a hater but genuinely love pop music, and it’s such a strange album. Trying to understand what a 19 year old would make of its worldview.

"[Bodycam] video shows an agent turn federal vehicle left into Martinez’s vehicle, after which an agent says, 'Do something b----.' The agent then exits the vehicle and shoots at Martinez.

[Her lawyer] Parente said Martinez has 'seven holes' in her from the shooting."

Govt didn't show that video.

An empty theater? Well I did note that Tay tay made a deal with AMC that no tickets could be refunded, which is interesting lol

Number one movie in America this weekend, heard it was one music video, some making of footage, and then lyric videos

I can’t believe people paid money to watch lyric videos of these songs in a goddamn movie theater 😭

I was right about the big Beyond Fest surprise - they screened Frankenstein first, and it blew me away, and kinda fucked me up (complimentary). still feeling wonderstruck but can't wait to write about it.

IF you are going to Pan’s Labyrinth’s Screening at Beyond Fest in LA… Don’t make plans after that… Feed the parking meter.

For me the piano scene in season one was so unexpected and striking for even what show it is, and so much of what he did in season one I kept thinking ‘which of his peers who are obsessed with success would even dare doing half of this stuff?’

Also Chris I think there’s a lot to be said for a 1st AD who paid their dues and knows what it’s like to be a PA. In my experience, it’s always for the better of the entire production.

Yes! Part of the joke is ‘you didn’t fucking notice what’s going on in the background of a show we shot around Atlanta?’ And then so next level hilarious. But same episode has a super interesting sincerely terrifying moment of ‘what the fuck is wrong with us?’ I think is aimed at the audience too.

Don’t know how to convince people of this but I swear, an Emmy worthy John Cena as a ‘douchey loser’ Cap’n America subversion has the most complicated depiction of how Americans voted in last election, without giving an insane twist away. Not finding our arthouse movies as brave. And it’s so funny.

I seriously think it’s one of the most nuanced, morally complicated, batshit crazy enough (like old comic books used to be) vessels to explore a whole host of shit going on in America’s psyche. The high concept idea is an incredible metaphor for how some people voted.

Right, all in camera. Not a single one has aged. I noted it in my research it shot for 4 months in fall / winter of NYC 1989 almost all locations. Which you’d be lucky to get a 34 day shoot these days! And hey i started as a PA you sometimes get to witness or overhear some really interesting stuff!

Episode 7 of season 2 of Peacemaker has the absolute best joke about this mindset that’s so good and layered I had to restart the episode three times before I could hear the dialogue from laughing too hard

“I voted for none of this."

Prominent influencers, including Theo Von, Joe Rogan, and Andrew Schulz, are starting to distance themselves from the president they helped propel to the White House.

It was a little chaotic leaving with Mr Lyne but seriously id be so happy to get to say hi to you. Please do if ever a chance again. And are you still working on film crews?
badideas.bsky.social
Oh god I’d love to talk to you about that now I heard his take on it lol. And yes I think Escoffier was one of the best of his generation so sad he passed away quite young, never gotten to speak to anyone who worked on one of his few English language films.

the thing w/ bari weiss' extremely unearned promotion isn't that it's a reason for the rest of us not to have imposter syndrome, we'd also need to not have morals or ethics or any sense of pride in what we do lol

Talking to director Adrian Lyne about making Jacob’s Ladder yesterday @ifccenter.bsky.social. The restoration supervised by Lyne is gorgeous, playing all week, and the film is still extraordinary. Thanks to everyone who came out and made it a full house.
