This lays out the situation in IL so far.

200 federalized National Guard troops in the state as of 3 p.m. on 10/8.

Two requests for protection support: 1. The ICE facility in Broadview, and 2. The Dirksen Federal Courthouse on Friday "due to two high profile cases involving DHS activities."

What are the chances he thinks Habeas Corpus is like a baseball player who tweeted something rude about him?
“Suspending who?”
atrupar.com
Q: Have you given any more thought to possibly suspending habeas corpus?

TRUMP: Suspending who?

Q: Habeas corpus

TRUMP: I don't know. I'd rather leave that to Kristi.

It's not special treatment for reporters—it's critically important to maintain the ability to document police activities after they've ordered assemblies to disperse.

Again and again, we've seen cops are most likely to get more violent with demonstrators when out of public view.

It's great that this TRO will issue. The lawyers and plaintiffs deserve tons of credit for making this happen.

But why is Judge Ellis walking back the position of the DOJ and at least one federal appellate court that journalists can't be dispersed at protests?

Kotzebue AK, pop 2900, is under mandatory evacuation because of storm surge. No roads out of town, so evacuation is to high school.

Average annual temp in NW AK has increased 4.5˚F in last 50 years, fall temp 3-4˚F. 2-3 more storms/yr.

But sure: kill off renewable energy in favor of gas/oil/coal

MSNBC published my response to ICE's baseless claims about me. "I am more interested in ICE officer safety than ICE itself is. ICE cares more about running up the deportation numbers than protecting its officers." www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnb...

To be clear, the President has been summarily executing suspected members of “cartels” on his say-so, on the basis of a secret legal memo from Bondi’s DOJ.

Bondi: "Bondi: "Just like we did with cartels, we are going to take the same approach, President Trump, with antifa -- destroy the entire organization from top to bottom. We are going to take them apart."

Reminds me of Mayor Mike Bloomberg before the RNC. NYC cops arrested 1,800 people, one of the largest arrest totals in U.S. protest history.

The bogus arrests eventually cost NYC taxpayers upward of $20 million, which, at the time, was said to be the largest protest settlement ever in the U.S.

In 2004, shortly before the Republican National Convention where much protest was expected, Mike Bloomberg, the mayor, told reporters protesting was a privilege. And, if not done appropriately, "Privileges can be taken away."

Don't get me started on Giuliani. :)

It's been a while.

This was outside the Broadview, IL ICE facility on Wednesday, early evening.

In recent weeks, both DHS and the state have emplaced physical barriers and created new rules for gatherings. Tonight, the scooted people out of the "free speech zone."

A very silly situation. Cops pushing protesters and press out of the free speech zone. Apparently standing at the corner of Beach and Lexington is still fine, though.

Around 30 protesters and hecklers here in the free speech area tonight. Curfew is in 15 minutes (reportedly, state police were fairly chill about curfew yesterday, but did make the few people still here move across Lexington).

Someone is tempting ISP troopers with a donut on a fishing pole.

At the Broadview ICE detention center outside Chicago this afternoon, things are (relatively) calm.

A vet-organized protest is planned for 4-6pm. After 6, curfew is in place.

Masked agents enter the building. ~1 month ago we would've been able to photograph them from Beach St, but not anymore.

The TLDR: The pay discrepancy between management and union members is deeply unsettling.
