Yesterday, we mentioned the Sunday debut of "Friday Foster.” Other strips (perhaps most notably, “Torchy Brown” by Jackie Ormes) starred a Black woman, but they ran in the Black press and didn’t have much mainstream visibility. Here are the first “Friday Foster” dailies (from January 19-22, 1970).
