And what if voters disagree on an issue? That means two people "demanding" things and the politician has to decide
So it is valid for the person who doesn't get what they want to just let the alternative fascist option win?

So Trump won the job interview?
February 13, 2026 at 11:02 PM
So Trump won because of his policies?
February 13, 2026 at 11:01 PM
The counter argument is that fascists winning is bad
February 13, 2026 at 11:00 PM
I mean that's the issue as I see it.
It starts off with Newsom being genuinely shitty because of his podcast but it always just ends up being directed at "Democrats" like Harris
And Harris is obviously not Newsom so it is clearly just dishonest
February 13, 2026 at 10:53 PM
It's also rather arrogant
I would want someone who thinks Harris was too liberal on issues to still voter for her because of the alternative. All people on the left do is make the case they don't have to do that because if they disagree on one thing, might as well throw the country to fascists

if you think she failed and you think she bears that responsibility, fine, i won't argue with you — but trump was a known quantity and nothing about his first 14 months has been especially surprising. shocking, enraging, destructive depressing, sure, but all of that was anticipated and warned about

*And* Kamala Harris, whose job it is to persuade voters, regularly warned all of those voters that it was gonna happen

and they didn't believe her

soooooo

Sometimes I’m convinced people want Dems to actually be anti trans so they can point and say they were right versus substantive laws/policies
February 13, 2026 at 5:18 AM
I genuinely don't understand how some like Erin Reed apparently truly believe both Newsom being elected would be worse than Trump is currently on trans rights, and that even if Newsom was terrible on it the entire Democratic party would just agree? And not fight back like they are currently doing?
February 13, 2026 at 7:59 PM
The issue here is they already have this narrative of Harris doesn't care about trans people too so they can't
February 13, 2026 at 7:57 PM
No one is taking issue with anyone not supporting Newsom in the primaries. It is entirely about the general.
February 13, 2026 at 7:47 PM
You know who actually wants Democrats to lose? Saying you won't vote for him against 4 more years of this
February 13, 2026 at 7:44 PM
No one ride or die. We just want to stop fascism and apparently that is too much of an ask you you all.
February 13, 2026 at 7:32 PM
Where is the actual evidence Newsom doesn't want you to exist? Why isn't that already occurring as Governor of California?

I don't understand why in your scenario of Newsom winning why the entire Democratic party would just accept him being anti trans anymore than they are currently with Trump?
How do you square his governorship of California with a hypothetical presidency?

Should I instead support 4 more years of this instead of the governor of one of the best places on the planet for trans people? How does that help trans people?

It is flatly not a Republican talking point that we shouldn't demonize trans kids
