Capitalist "philanthropy" is a scam

"[D]espite these efforts, income inequality is worse than it’s been since before the Great Depression & poverty & its associated social pathologies remain stubbornly pervasive. What gives?"

“What keeps us going, ultimately, is our love for each other, and our refusal to bow our heads, to accept the verdict, however all-powerful it seems. It’s what ordinary people have to do. You have to love each other. You have to defend each other. You have to fight.”

Don’t drown thinking only of the things you are against

Remember to dream of and work to create what you’re for

Tonight, Joe Biden will give a speech touting his successes, and in many ways he did an admirable job. But he never left the alternate reality of the establishment, and protected “norms and institutions” instead of us.

I am going to say something radically optimistic:

The ONLY way we get through this is by countering individualism with enduring community. And I believe that most people want to be in communities that care for each other.

Occasional reminder that there’s no, “it’s too late, its over” for anthropogenic climate change. Every molecule of CO2 that doesn’t go into the atmosphere makes a difference. Preventing 0.1 degree of warming makes a difference. Every bit of climate resilience we build together makes a difference.
