For whatever reason I’d slept on Lake Mungo but found and watched it today. Properly, properly chilling. Haven’t felt like this about a horror film since Skinamarink, though Lake Mungo has much more heart. In fact it’s all heart. That’s probably why it’s so fucking moving.

Nepotism in the arts is a funny one because on the one hand yes it’s a very well-rewarded industry (at the top) and that’s worthy of envy. But on the other hand, we accept (or even prefer) businesses that have some kind of “… and Sons” element to it. There’s a cultural value in generational craft.
