If this motion was really about protecting women & girls, as the title suggests, it would address the true causes of violence against women: domestic abuse, harassment, systemic male violence.

We will be at this council meeting to stand up for the trans community. We ask that you join us there 🏳️‍⚧️
The extraordinary motion in question has been published.

A lot has happened recently on the EHRC’s proposed bathroom ban but they're still trying to exclude trans people from public life. The EHRC aren’t changing course, and we have to keep the pressure up.

This motion is a transphobic dog whistle. If Reform really cared about women's rights, they'd be calling for investment into services, and action on misogyny. This diverts attention away from the real issues that impact women.

Please sign and show solidarity with our trans siblings.

Please sign the petition.

There is a real risk that, instead of rejecting the motion, the Bassetlaw District Council will amend the motion to water it down.

This is not acceptable. A partial trans ban is still a trans ban. We need to stand up unequivocally for the trans community in Bassetlaw.

This motion is trying to paint trans women using toilets as an urgent threat to public safety 🙄

It's a toxic, fabricated panic aimed at one of our youngest local demographics. We need to stand against it.

On 3 February, the Bassetlaw Council will debate a discriminatory motion that would ban trans women from women's spaces.

Let us be clear, Reform is playing pantomime politics which distracts from the real threats to women's safety.

It's good news that this motion is postponed, but that still means that it'll be heard. If you're in Bassetlaw, write to your local councillor about this motion.

Many thanks to @whatthetrans.com for their dedicated journalism & big up @bassetlaw-trans.bsky.social!
The motion will be *at least* postponed to the next council meeting on 26th February 2026, unless an extraordinary motion is called.

In the meantime, the people remaining in the hall have been asked to express their views to their local MP.

We're pleased to report that Reform's anti-trans motion was ruled out of order on the basis that the motion's seconder did not attend the meeting!

Good evening.

We are in a county hall in Bassetlaw, Worksop this evening - lobbying against a Reform Councillor bringing forward a motion to "implement the Supreme Court ruling".
