Cubs hold on to beat Brewers, 4-3, keeping their season alive. Game 4 of the NLDS on-deck Thursday at Wrigley.

Seiya Suzuki's 117.3-mph double in 3rd inning is the 3rd-hardest-hit ball (regular season or playoffs) in Statcast Era (since 2015) for the Cubs. Only Kyle Schwarber has hit any harder (117.6 and 117.4 mph, both in 2019).

The Cubs entered today with an MLB-record streak of 13 straight playoff games with 3 or fewer runs scored, dating back to 2017. The four-spot in the first inning put an end to that.

The first inning in the NLDS...

Game 1: Cubs 1, Brewers 6
Game 2: Cubs 3, Brewers 3
Game 3: Brewers 1, Cubs 4

To quote @adammccalvy.bsky.social: Sweet sassy molassy!

Pete Crow-Armstrong ends Priester's day at 39 pitches, 7 batters and only two outs recorded with a 2-run single into right field.

Cubs up 3-1, and the press box is swaying a little as the fans in the upper deck rock the old place.

I understand why Cubs fans might be ticked an infield fly wasn't called on it but the ball was in no mans land and not routine, Busch immediately indicated to Hoerner he couldn't see the ball and no one else was close to catching it

I’m still pissed that it wasn’t called an infield fly. 100% of balls that have ever landed in the grass on the infield have been called infield fly balls.
Shaw and Swanson would have been standing on 3rd and 2nd if it had been called

Michael Busch went deep to open the first inning, as he did in Game 1, to knot Game 3, 1-1.

Per @slangsonsports.bsky.social: Busch is the first player to hit multiple leadoff home runs in the same series in a single postseason.

Some scenes around Wrigley ahead of Game 3.

And got a pic with Chef Tee over at Cozy Noodles! My favorite spot in Wrigleyville to grab some food. He’s also a fellow marathoner (way faster than me!).

Counsell goes back to the same lineup as Game 1 for Game 3 against the Brewers ⤵️

Counsell said Cade Horton’s light mound workout on Tuesday went well. Remains on target for a heavier bullpen session on Friday.

"Part of being great at this is responding to the bad stuff and running towards it, man. That's part of this. You can't be afraid of it. You've got to look forward to it. … We put ourselves in a hole this series, no question about it. We get to decide how the story ends." – Craig Counsell

Brewers had zero 3-run HRs or grand slams in their club's history going into tonight. Now they have two: one 3-run homer apiece by Vaughn and Chourio.

Chourio's shot in 4th came off a 101.4 mph Palencia fastball -- fastest pitch in a postseason game hit for a HR in pitch tracking era (since 2008).

This pitch resulted in a 3-run homer by Andrew Vaughn in the 1st inning. Suzuki’s blast cancelled out. It’s 3-3 and this place is going crazy.
bastianmlb.bsky.social
111.7 mph off the bat and a projected 440 feet. It was... crushed.

Seiya Suzuki stays hot at the plate this postseason, hammering a 3-run blast to left-center field in the first inning.

As far as we've been told, correct.

Counsell goes with Turner at 1B/leadoff with Brewers using a lefty opener. Expect Busch to be swapped in mid-game. Strategy!

Cade Horton has had a few good days of throwing in a row and current plan for Cubs is to have him throw a light bullpen session on Tuesday at Wrigley.

Workout Day morning workout for me was a long run around Milwaukee. One of my favorite cities to run in.
