This is a good take, and I’d also like to note that games journalism basically did fail all of those adult game devs. Emphasis on the industry over individuals, although there are outlets out there today that are *still* ignoring this issue overall
I am a little disappointed when the conversation is focused around "it's art not porn!" because the adult games devs get very little support but have been dealing with this for far longer, and they've been sounding the alarm for that deplatforming coming for other games (such as LGBTQ+ content).

So much of white western society is propped up on the assumption that gender is binary and immutable. Trans people, by our very existence, call that assumption into question. Therefore our existence is a threat to the established order of things, and we must be vilified and destroyed.
I talk about this a lot. That's why it bothers cishet people so much that trans people exist. We're apostates to them, iconoclasts that destroy these hallowed rituals of the modern Society.
This is particularly why transphobes hyperfixate on the idea of us mutilating ourselves.
