A Black man was killed by ICE (off duty) in Los Angeles on New Year’s Eve. And like Renée Good, he was an American citizen. But most people have not heard about Keith Porter.

I need y’all to realize this. Black people experience this lack of visibility all the time when it comes to being victims.

I once took a child to McDonalds. The place was busy, with numerous patrons waiting patiently in line to order. A young teenager was working the register and clearly doing the best she could. Suddenly, a customer rushed the counter, hitting the teenage employee in the face with fries while screaming obscenities and demeaning the girls’ abilities. What had set off the 40-year-old customer?

There will never be a general strike in the US like France or Italy because millions are one unexcused absence from being fired and one firing away from being homeless. Nobody in Europe gets fired, evicted, or loses their health insurance if they strike, so don't blame people here for not doing it.

Most of you reading this have no direct control over what is happening in Washington. Yet you get angry or frustrated, perhaps even irate. Yes, Trump and MAGA are undermining our courts, our free press, the FBI, and generally led an assault on democracy and freedom. Trump and his cronies are involved in what is clearly the most corrupt administration in history.
