A three-post thread collecting all of my specific and random predictions about the SEC this season
How does an Arby's run out of roast beef? How is that even possible?

One of my meta-thoughts on AI is a difference in mindset between programmers and artists. Coders create programs to do things. The product is the goal.

For artists, the creative process just as important as the work. And for an appreciative audience, watching that process unfold has its own value

Jim Mora NotJr has had a fascinating career path
SOURCE: Colorado State is expected to hire UConn's Jim Mora as head coach, @theathletic.com has learned.

Mora and UConn wrapped their regular season on Saturday, a second consecutive 9-win season. Colorado State joins the new Pac-12 next year. (ESPN first reported).

Listen, the French once attacked a Greenpeace ship, but even taking that into account, I see no reason why Candace Owens would believe they want to assassinate her

One of the reasons I am skeptical of Lane Kiffin working out in LSU or Florida: Ole Miss is happy to be in the conversation, so they love and adore him. LSU and Florida expect to be in the conversation, and doing so will earn at most acceptance. Which is a big risk to run when you've never done it

Listen, if playing the FCS game in November, why doesn't the (highly educated, we are told) Big Ten do it? Play Oregon-Southern Cal in Week 2 and then play Montana State this past week. There's no law against it!

Unless of course it's a disingenuous talking point, in which case carry on
November 23, 2025 at 7:49 PM
(1) That starts next year (while retaining the SEC requirement to play one Power 4 team in the nonconference schedule)

(2) No
Play 9 conference games then come back with your sick burns Brandon.
No, you played Montana State when Texas played Ohio State, LSU played Clemson, Alabama played Florida State, Auburn played Baylor, and South Carolina played Virginia Tech.

The same week

And here's where I say that (a) there are people that use this point semi-seriously during postseason debates; and (b) this was a cutting-edge take in 2009 and Lanning needs some new material
We can do this all day with schedules - People thought Penn State was the biggest test on a schedule sans Michigan and tOSU this year, nobody accounted for Indiana again - so here's where I say Lanning was talking to his fanbase and the people who think the SoCon Challenge sucks
When Oregon schedule a team that turns out to be less than expected, it still shows their scheduling valor. When an SEC does the same, it just reinforces that their schedules aren't so tough

Every Power 4 team has easy games. Every Power 4 team has difficult games. The order they are in really doesn't matter that much. A schedule runs from Week 1 to Week 14. They all count

Yes, that Rutgers game really puts some miles on a team
9 conference games vs 8

"Montana State isn't even a cupcake FCS team" kind of answers itself

Funniest timeline: Florida poaches Josh Heupel and Lane Kiffin returns to Tennessee
November 23, 2025 at 4:11 PM
If I am understanding this right, if Virginia Tech punks Virginia and Pitt beats Miami, we are guaranteed a three-loss ACC champ that will get in the playoff ahead of possibly two (and maybe even three) higher ranked ACC teams.

Magnificent work, ACC. Top-shelf stuff

I've seen this play run before. That's . . . not how it's supposed to go

This used to be called "governing"
In @nytopinion.nytimes.com

“Early political maneuvering suggests Mr. Mamdani is comfortable taking big risks, forming alliances with political opponents and willing to disappoint ardent supporters if he views the moves as helpful in carrying out his ambitious agenda,” Mara Gay writes.
Opinion | Mamdani’s Surreal Meeting With Trump Is the Latest in a Pragmatic Month
Since his election, Zohran Mamdani has made some surprisingly pragmatic or traditional choices — including his surreal meeting with President Trump.

MERCER IS 5-FOR-5 ON THIRD DOWN. AGAINST AUBURN
It's now tied, but y'all -- Mercer is going stride for stride with Auburn
