From @theathletic.com: Alex Rodriguez called out the hypocrisy of Bud Selig's induction into the Hall of Fame, while some star players remain excluded because of that era's steroid stigma. "All of this stuff you’re talking about was under Bud Selig’s watch."

Anthony Rendon retiring would be devastating for baseball accounts on social media that exist solely to farm engagement. Possible recession indicator, tbh

Good, tbh
new @fangraphs.com: When he announced his retirement, I fretted that Chase Utley wouldn't get much of a sniff from BBWAA voters due to his short career and lack of awards. As he enters his 3rd year on the ballot, he's in very good shape for eventual election.

Hate seeing this for teams as they enter the playoffs.

Going to sound a broken record like everyone else, but the NCAA really needs to look at not opening the portal for fall/winter season sports like football until said season is formally finished across all NCAA divisions.

That run already has Halladay in the Hall. If you are just looking at 07-11, Utley is a no doubt slam dunk Hall of Fame level talent, longevity is the argument against him by fWAR he trails Pujols 35.5 to 33.3 during that era. He easily was the 2nd best hitter in baseball during that time
This is the only case for him being in, and I hate this case. Just further eroding the prestige of the Hall.

The 2007-11 Phillies were a great TEAM and didn’t have a single player legitimately worthy of the Hall of Fame.

A new apple?? How intriguing
This Southern propaganda sucks, but it reminds me of good Apple News I neglected to share. WSU Extension was at our conference last week and brought the new Sunflare variety. It’s not available commercially for a couple of years, but it’s magnificent. Yes, it pairs well with Cougar Gold.
Apple pie is bad. This is not really debatable. So is key lime pie, while we’re on the topic. Pecan pie is the 🐐 tho.

With respect to all the conversation going on, the people involved, etc., LSU is a proven winner with 3 Nattys and 13 10-win seasons in the 21st century (18 total) with 2 Heismans. Ole Miss has 6 10-win seasons this century (3 in a row) and no title since 1960. This isn't a discussion IMO

I'm certain it was probably very bad for him between this and the Super Bowl gaffe, but envisioning a modern-era response to this type of shithousery - especially within the same calendar year - kinda gives me hives
