Wheeler should be back in the spring, you still have Sanchez, Nola, and Luzardo with Painter potentially joining them and much of a bullpen headlined by Duran. At minimum you have Turner and Harper. Like that is very close just on its own
mattwinkelman.bsky.social
I think Kyle is back, I think they try to do JT for like 2 more because the catching market sucks. I think Ranger and Bader find more money elsewhere and they move off of Nick. Then you see what you can do
mattwinkelman.bsky.social
Not to pivot too hard into offseason mode, but they need to start developing these guys. I don’t think Kerkering is broken, but you need more out there and you need more velocity and stuff. There is real work to be done.

Gonna need a few bullpen arms now too. Can’t go into another season with just Duran you can trust back there. Especially with Orion who likely needs a change of scenery, you’ve got zero right handers back there outside of the closer
mattwinkelman.bsky.social
I think it really depends, I am going to say 2, I just think Stott is fine for what he is, and if you get an actual compliment to him, LF Brandon Marsh is a really valuable player. Bohm feels like the lever they want to pull
dcs245.bsky.social
How many of Marsh, Bohm, and Stott do you think are back? Feel free to answer with a fraction only
mattwinkelman.bsky.social
Oh yeah, there will be real changes, but like Trea Turner was a MVP candidate, even down Bryce is good, and the pitching and pitching infrastructure is very good
mattwinkelman.bsky.social
They are going to keep spending. I assume now or later they will lock Luzardo up, Sanchez is on a great contract. The cupboard isn’t empty and they have a motivated owner and President
jaypb08.bsky.social
Everyone seems to be calling this the end of a window for this group due to contracts and age - do you think 2026 and beyond will be a transition period, or do you think they'll stay just as competitive?

9 months ago the Dodgers got Sasaki and then signed a bunch of guys (who mostly failed) and every talked about them as this unstoppable juggernaut. They weren’t healthy until now and the Phillies out scores them in the series and went toe to toe in the losses
mattwinkelman.bsky.social
Did they collapse? In 4 games they faced Shohei Ohtani, Blake Snell, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Tyler Glasnow. They didn’t get shut down by Manaea, Severino, Senga, and Quintana here.

“No one wants to hear it”.

I’m tired of this cop out excuse. Three years in a row they have collapsed. I want shake ups because this roster isn’t it.
mattwinkelman.bsky.social
Yeah, it hurts, but like I am not embarrassed by them.
mattwinkelman.bsky.social
No one wants to hear it, but they are good team and they will be back again next year with some changes. Mourn the 2025 season all you want, but the franchise isn’t done.
mattwinkelman.bsky.social
They do, he panicked in the biggest moment of his career
mattwinkelman.bsky.social
The Dodgers pitching was real fucking good and the Bader injury changed the series. Just absolute pain against a great team they could have beat.
mattwinkelman.bsky.social
The bottom of the zone just no longer getting called
mattwinkelman.bsky.social
Jesús was losing it. It may not work, but this is the right move.
mattwinkelman.bsky.social
Luzardo is not really commanding, just letting it rip mostly, hung that change
mattwinkelman.bsky.social
Phillies now in the 11th with a no center fielder outfield
mattwinkelman.bsky.social
Well it works out. Bohm has been locked in, need it to count
mattwinkelman.bsky.social
Swinging at ball 4 in a 3-0 count is a choice

mattwinkelman.bsky.social
He called that a strike? Ump wants to go home
mattwinkelman.bsky.social
The Phillies gave Jesus Luzardo a 89 mph monster sweeper, Caleb Cotham masterclass
mattwinkelman.bsky.social
If you are going to die, die with your best players.
mattgelb.bsky.social
Jesús Luzardo is warming up. He's probably pitching the 10th.
mattwinkelman.bsky.social
The Dodgers bullpen has largely not been a factor because of Roki Sasaki, just absolutely changed the postseason
mattwinkelman.bsky.social
I wish the Phillies weren’t involved because this has been just a ridiculously pitched series
