Like yeah you could get away with the whole "they overused him" excuse for a while as the other bullpen guys did what they did. That was the thing. But... they kept going, and he kept doing that. It never swayed except a few times

I'm admittedly not that hip to everything at all times. But I felt like people already accepted Kershaw stunk in October by 2021? Like yeah you couldn't ignore it at that point because the small sample grew into a bigger one and it never dissipated. It was weird, but it couldn't be ignored

I don’t think Aaron Boone is the biggest problem with the Yankees (that would be the way their most hyped prospects have completely flopped since Judge), but I also don’t think there’s any downside in firing him. He’s a manager. Most of them don’t make a big difference.

I'd love to know why I should be excited about George Lombard Jr. for instance. The Yankees haven't melded a good middle infielder since...? Volpe stinks, Peraza's somewhere else. Same thing with Spencer Jones. Am I supposed to be excited?

Beyond the manager, the Yankees won't get anywhere unless somebody on the team decides to turn into someone worth a shit like Judge did. But their development has been routinely showing holes, inconsistency, and a lot of failed promise

Like someone said in the comments I think Pujols on Lidge is a good comparison here. Mammoth shot that you'll remember in a losing series. But of course, the reliever who gave that up probably won't go on a Brad Lidge arc
