There’s no point during the detention of a five-year-old that any person with a functioning moral center would not step back to reassess the situation and their place in it. That nobody involved did proves they lack the common interiority required to successfully coexist in ordered society.

I keep thinking about the number of people that have to be involved to kidnap a small child, transport him to one facility or another, then an airport, then a plane, then another facility. Did no one on that chain stop and say hey what the fuck?
If only they had had time for the "don't kidnap 5-year-olds and send them to detention centers 1000 miles away from their families" training module
Here’s the report from KARE. The boy is five-year-old Liam Ramos.

Step 1: Run for senate.
Step 2: Win! You're a senator. Congrats!
Step 3: Send a social media post urging … your constituents? … to end qualified immunity?
End Qualified Immunity now. Hold the ICE officer who blocked aid accountable for Renee Good’s death.

One of the hills that I will absolutely die on is that the Mets need to learn how to honor their own history, and not worry about other teams. Carlos Beltrán is an upper-tier Mets legend and needs to be honored as such.

Now that Carlos Beltrán is headed to Cooperstown, it's time for the Mets to retire No. 15:
With Carlos Beltrán in the Hall of Fame, Mets should retire No. 15
Carlos Beltrán ranks in the top 10 in Mets franchise history in just about every offensive stat.

Really happy for Indiana fans.

Also really happy for everyone who ignored the piss out of Twitter tonight. Good job, everyone.

Indiana was the worst team in college football for 150 years and then they let you start paying players and they immediately became No. 1 and the only conclusion one can draw is they were the only ones who didn’t realize you could pay players under the table for the first 150 years.

Every single word of this is true. Stop blaming the Dodgers.
The second half of today's Newsletter on the Kyle Tucker signing, focusing on the league-level issues, is up free. I very much hope you'll read it.

Knew David Stearns would bring Brewers ideas to New York.

Didn’t realize “lol whole lineup is second basemen” would be the idea.

I think it's unfair to define this as "pundit brain" when it really should be "pundits brain," because somehow this atrocity of a story required four bylines.
Stage 5 pundit-brain is watching an innocent woman being killed by agents of the state and going, "hmm this says a lot about the urban-rural divide in America."

My friends and I have been discussing this all night. The only thing close to 2025 Indiana is 2015-16 Leicester City. That’s how absurd this is.

Fernando Mendoza has two goals:
1) see this football thing through, all the way to a CFP championship trophy or a Super Bowl;
2) actually get away with trying to do Enron but for 2026
