A three-post thread collecting all of my specific and random predictions about the SEC this season
1. Two SEC quarterbacks will be in NYC for the Heisman presentation -- no more, no less 2. The most bonkers game will be Vanderbilt at
S.C. Sellers vs. Pavia (if he plays) in a make-or-break game. Vandy generally has a good year if it wins; S.C. generally has a bad season if it loses 3. Texas will not win the SEC Championship 4. Of the following teams, at least one will go 7-5:
Oklahoma, Texas, Tennessee

The Cubs will offer a posting fee of $174 and three packets of hot sauce, and a contract for $4 million a year, WHICH SOUNDS VERY GENEROUS IF YOU ASK JED HOYER

Japan’s Triple Crown winner. This is going to be an insane off-season, again.

I work in this field. And yes, this is nothing new. The freak out over this is driving me insane. There are foreign air force members/equipment all over in USAF bases.

We sell, train, and sustain aircraft and weapons to many different countries.

This is Hegseth trying to make it sound like a bigger deal than it is. We have friendly foreign air forces in the US for training exercises and the like all the time, especially ones that use US equipment. That's what this is. It's not like an operational deployment or giving them a whole airbase.

Always look to people who know things when something sounds incredibly off. Sometimes it is something! But a lot of times it's hyped up normality serving as clickbait for those with motivated reasoning and confirmation bias

Hegseth: "I'm also proud that today we're signing a letter of acceptance to build a Qatari Emeri air force facility at the Mountain Home Airbase in Idaho."

Authoritarians are authoritarians, whether they are "left-wing" or "right-wing."

Liberal democrats are liberal democrats, whether they are "progressive" or "conservative."

One is bad, and one is good, and political stances have nothing to do with it (in this arena)

As someone from the fan base that made SB infamous, I hope Phillies fans will lay off Orion Kerkering. One mistake, no matter how egregious, is completely responsible for a playoff series loss

Good to see outlets credulously reporting Andrew Garfield saying he is not in Doomsday, given that he has never lied about something like that before.

(And whether he should be in the movie or not is, to me, a question based on what's in it. Just sayin')

Thousands of bills are filed in the 50 state legislatures every year. A handful in each state will get approved. I'm not saying never pay attention to stories about bills being introduced, but keep in mind that unless there is some tangible reason to think a bill will pass, the odds are against it

There are ways in which a Lee Greenwood Super Bowl halftime show would be immensely entertaining, but almost certainly not intentionally

The only real question I have about Bill Belichick's UNC tenure is whether he resigns midseason or sticks around for the whole 4-8 slouch

Watching The Price Is Right as a kid misled me about the frequency with which I would acquire a new car

The Ricketts family is a wealthy family successful in business. Do I think they spent $845 million for one of the Tiffany franchises in American sports and are just breaking even? I do not. And some profit is fine. But I want numbers at this point
becomingbrandon.bsky.social
An offer for Tom Ricketts: If you are just breaking even, if you are not turning a huge profit, just give the team to me. Shouldn't be an issue, right? It wouldn't cost you anything. If, on the other hand, you are turning massive profits while pleading poverty, I can understand why you would decline
becomingbrandon.bsky.social
Tom Ricketts is probably asking Jed how money they could have saved if they just got to the Wild Card Series, instead of winning it

I hate the Brewers on principle, but the point here is not wrong
fuzzbeedeli.bsky.social
My hot take is it's kinda lame for Cubs fans to talk about hating the Brewers so much. It's not their fault the Cubs and their vast resources aren't consistently better than a small-market team from Milwaukee. Embarrassing!

Again, JED HOYER GOT AN EXTENSION FOR THIS

I'm glad Jed Hoyer didn't trade the future for some more starting pitching, said no one not named Jed Hoyer

Does he realize the issue with that statement?

Dr Oz: "We have an advantage with AI. You know why? We don't think the way fraudsters think. That's just not what our minds do. The bank managers don't think about bank fraud. They want to do loans and help businesses. Fraudsters think about fraud. So the AI can think the way a fraudster thinks."

I keep staring at this trying to figure out where it goes off the rails, and I think it starts to leave the track at the word "Communism"

It turns out that everything is not, oddly enough, a commodity that can be traded on rational markets

The hottest I have ever been in my life was when South Carolina played UCF at their place in Orlando. Oppressive, unrelenting heat. One friend who was to be safely ensconced in the press box waited until we were almost to the stadium before he said, "Oh yeah, they call it the Kiln."
