I wouldn't say that. I'd frame it more as "don't pay attention" or "thoughtless". It could be nearly as bad, but it makes me feel better than "malicious".

I remember Tom Nichols remarked about a senator he knew decades ago who got after aides who did not order the proper amount of mustard on sandwiches (so it wouldn't burst all over the suit). He got quite upset.

Hey hey, the shoe cable organizer! I tried your suggestion and loved it for awhile. Unfortunately, my own closet has folding doors and, while I could hang the thing outside, it bugged me enough that I went back to tubs in the end. I'd probably use it again if I had regular doors.

The thing we get to watch now (as non shareholders, hopefully) is how quickly this unravels in the midst of a stagflation cycle that slowly worsens in a low-information environment. It will be entertaining, at least, while us normies suffer.

The vast majority of poll-sniffing punditry just refuses to take on board this very basic feature of human psychology. People make vibes decisions based on factors they're probably not fully conscious of. And then they cast about for a respectable-sounding rationalization for that decision.
