“Doomerism” is when you say “holy shit things are going to get bad and there’s nothing we can do.” It’s not when you say “holy shit things are going to get bad and we better get prepared for that”.

This week, Temporary Protected Status for 350K Haitians in the U.S. was set to expire, with no White House plan to renew it.

Many warned this would lead to mass roundups of people unable to safely return to Haiti.

Today, Judge Reyes blocked it from happening.

Her ruling was scathing. 👇

To be clear, we're in such bad shape because the U.S. regime has been a detention regime for a very long time. Now the long-term crisis is getting exponentially worse, with funding already allocated to do incalculable harm. But not all the necessary materials are at hand yet, and we can still act.

"Also note that MS NOW’s Carol Leonnig is reporting that career prosecutors in Minnesota and Los Angeles refused to be involved in the prosecution of Lemon"

So who presented this to a grand jury, in criminal violation of the First Amendment? Lindsey Halligan?
There's video of Don Lemon outside the protest stating explicitly: "I'm just chronicling. I'm not with the group." Bondi went to grand jury for an indictment after the courts declined to approve arrest warrant *twice.*

Legal experts explain here why this is so ugly:

One move, no look-ahead to further moves. Just the one move over and over and over again. It's worked for him because pissant elite people and institutions let it work for him. They must be restrained in favor of the public interest after this is over.
the entire goal here is to terrify people into submission, to push civil society to a point where nobody fights back or even protests what they’re doing

does it look like that’s working to you? or does all of this just keep making people angrier?

it is really important to recognize that the administration does a lot of things that are terrifying and dangerous and at the same time stupid and counterproductive

arresting journalists is very bad and also this will end in humiliation for them
the practical effect of arresting lemon et al is to spark widespread condemnation, especially since these arrests will certainly be thrown out. this doesn't mean the action isn't a dangerous escalation, it does mean the white house doesn't know what to do but spam its only attack

the arrest of journalists in minneapolis, including don lemon, is more evidence that the only move the administration knows how to make is to use force, and does not know how to respond when that force is met with defiance and indifference.

What's morale like at CBP & ICE right now? New survey data are damning.
*21% of CBP respondents (9% of ICE respondents) believe their agencies' political leaders maintain high standards of integrity.
*Only 23% at CBP (18% at ICE) feel confident they could report illegal acts without retribution

"Enforce" -- how? See above.

You cannot trust the honor of Nazis. *ABOLISH* ICE and the DHS, none of this slap-on-the-wrist nonsense!
SCHUMER says Democrats are “united” behind three DHS reforms

1/ End roving patrols; tighten the rules on warrants and require ICE to coordinate with local authorities.

2/ Enforce accountability; a uniform code of conduct.

3/ Require masks off, body cameras on, agents carry ID.
