imo this also means genai is going to be part of gamedev forevermore in some capacity too btw, they're going to be doing genai character voices even if they pay an actor for enough training data to get it to work, they're going to be vibe coding shit even if a human does the actual code review, etc

the other problems with ai (unethically gathered training data, exploitation of resources for datacenters and hardware etc) are *downstream* of the corporate greed angle, the tech is actually value neutral AND not going anywhere, even when the bubble pops ppl are gonna train and run models locally

i don't like accidentally agreeing with libertarians but an actual free market might solve this, unfortunately the ai industrial complex is well entrenched now
but really what's more american than government and industry collaborating on a gigantic get-rich-quick scheme at normal peoples' expense

"ai replaces workers" is ai company propaganda actually, it can't actually do that; companies that are poorly run and have stupid managers (surprisingly a lot of them, why does america have such a massive nepo baby idiot failson management culture anyway..?) will fall for the grift and suffer for it

imagine a company going cubicle to cubicle just randomly handing out high powered lasers "lasers are the FUTURE and this company is going to be PART OF IT!!!!" and then being surprised somehow when the end result is mostly just a bunch of burned retinas and wasted electricity

anyway everyone whose opinions on ai have less nuance than mine is either a witless reactionary or a gullible rube, and everyone whose opinions have more nuance is an insufferable hair-splitting dweeb
