I will say till my last breath that if you fashion yourself a radical, revolutionary, leftist, or progressive, and you aren't currently masking (if able) I seriously question your ability to be a threat to the settler colonial empire since you're currently doing their work (if unwittingly).

In today’s episode, we revisit our conversation with @msjamshidi.bsky.social on how US law has been shaped to specifically guard against Palestinian self-determination, and the direct role settler officials had in crafting contemporary state definitions of “terrorism”

One of my takeaways from this election cycle is, even if you don’t think you have heroes, you probably do. And it’s best to not make heroes of leftists/left orgs you have learned from. To watch so many orgs/people talk about the genocide of Palestinians and then endorse Harris is indefensible.

“Meanwhile, multiple reports said Israeli forces arrested Palestinians in the West Bank town of Dura, where people were blindfolded, handcuffed and branded with a number on their forehead.”

Israeli forces killed at least five Palestinians and arrested 16 others in the occupied West Bank on Friday, while carrying out incursions on several towns.

It's official: Mask ban in Nassau County, New York passes along party lines, 12-0 (7 abstentions). It makes wearing a mask a misdemeanor (with unclear health and religious exceptions) and gives police the power to fine people wearing a mask $1,000 and sentence them to jail time.

Whole bunch of people who can teach Gramsci and Williams on “hegemony” who aren’t masking anymore so, what was the point?

Now unlocked: we take a close look at a widely shared piece from NPR which presents avoiding covid both as the product of unreasonable “anxiety” and as something immunocompromised people should let go of lest their loved ones consider abandoning them

"Masks did not become a symbol of solidarity overnight...There is still much work to be done. But if you ever stopped masking, there has rarely been a better time to start again. Mask up and show your solidarity. Eric Adams will hate it."

Meanwhile billions of more dollars are sent to Israel to perpetuate their genocide. “Difficult decisions.”
Turns out uninsured Americans won't be able to get free COVID shots from CDC this fall

Last year, federal Bridge Access Program pledged shots until December. That will now end in August, after Congressional cuts

We are wholly interdependent. We need one another and rely on each other all the way down. This is no less true within capitalism than non-hierarchical social formations. The difference is that capitalism orients this interdependence towards the accumulation and power of the capitalist class.

I appreciate this because anarchism existed in a lot of noneuropean societies in history including in Africa which is important in conceptions of it.

its not genocide its just (checks) killing tens of thousands of an already captive people, obliterating their homes and infrastructure, concentrating that population into ever small areas, and entertaining half baked plans for dispatching them elsewhere as more inevitably die

Doesn’t the CDC still count COVID hospitalizations as someone admitted to the hospital within 14 days of a positive test result? In which case they are vastly undercounted given that testing has been scaled so far back. Why refer to the CDC’s data on hospitalizations and death as legitimate?

You will actually get washed away by the tide of these times by refusing to acknowledge something has fundamentally shifted, already, not at a future date, that makes our conditions very dire & requires our action & alertness.

Because each infection does lasting damage, the COVID metric that matters is case count/transmission. I get that the Biden admin and CDC gradually pivoted the public to hospitalizations and deaths, but I’m not clear on why this has been accepted by many.

at this point frankly I don't think there's any scale of mass death - certainly elsewhere in the world, and likely at home too - that US society won’t metabolize into business as usual
