I used to be so wasp-phobic that I nearly crashed a car to get away from one. Getting outside and observing the vast, vast biodiversity of wasps has gotten me over that fear. There are thousands of wasp species going about their day that never bother a human and they're beautiful!
Cross Potter Wasp (Eumenes crucifera) - A small black wasp with white stripes on the abdomen. It is feeding on nectar on small white flowers with yellowish-green in the background. Ichneumonid Wasp - A jaunty male with off-white legs, red on the thorax, black and white striped abdomen, and long black antennae. He is standing on a leaf that I am holding. Eupelmus sp. - A tiny iridescent wasp standing at the tip of a pine needle. American Pelecinid Wasp (Pelecinus polyturator) - A black wasp with a very long abdomen. She is standing on a blade of wide grass with green in the background.

What is going on with this #ladybug? It was walking around but had some sort of protrusion. A #parasite like #dinocampuscoccinellae? A seedling? A #cordyceps? Seen on January 14 in #PortlandOregon. #insects #insectidentification

Trump dismantles the government’s institutions and systems, then people like Bernie come in with effective systems that actually build high speed rail, give us universal healthcare, and revamps a broken educational system (paying teachers). It won’t happen but I can dream.
