Our paper on epigenetics and trans health care is now officially published!! 😃 As part of YJBM's issue on Epigenetics (we made the editor's pick!).
This was in collaboration with brillaint folks at Rhodes College and University of Melbourne. ☺️

After 21 years at my dream job, I’m very sad to announce my early retirement from the National Institutes of Health. My life’s work has been to scientifically study how our food environment affects what we eat, and how what we eat affects our physiology.

The reality of sex and gender is complicated. It calls for nuanced examination and thought. The public sphere is terribly bad at this. Add in the close ties between gender and people's self-image, and the issue is ripe for demagoguery.

Or you could just be kind to people different from you.
The U.K. Supreme Court rules that Britain's equalities law defines a woman as someone born biologically female. The ruling means a transgender person with a certificate that recognizes them as female should not be considered a woman for equality purposes.

Trans people have historically been excluded from biomedical research and this has created vast knowledge gaps and deficits in their medical care. In our new pre-print, we examine the dynamics of epigenetic biomarkers during the first year of hormone therapy among transgender participants. (1/3)

We’ve handed power in the US to people who simply don’t share the values of Western democracy.
NEW: The actions of Trump and Vance in recent weeks highlight something under-appreciated.

The American right is now ideologically closer to countries like Russia, Turkey and in some senses China, than to the rest of the west (even the conservative west).

Our new preprint on how societal inequities can "get under the skin" and influence biological aging and health. This provides molecular evidence for the "weathering hypothesis" and how racial discrimination and inequity erodes our bodies at the DNA level.

If you own TSLA stocks, consider selling them. Bulk selling is another way to devalue a stock. TSLA is fickle and erratic and now driven by corruption.
This is NOT a financial advice; this is about resisting and fighting the oligarchy and tyranny.

Chronic disease: Americans are sick because our society is sick. Companies keep people in poverty by refusing to pay a living wage. Working two jobs means no time for exercise or even rest. We tie healthcare to corrupt health ins. companies that won’t pay. Structural racism harms people of color.

Came up with their own definition of sex and gender, claims it's "biological truth", then goes around scrubbing data and empirical evidence that contradicts them, and now censoring scientists and crippling the biomedical sciences.
