Our last rental search went so badly that we stayed in a place Andi absolutely HATED so we could save up to buy the house we have now.

I imagine it's non-stop without the pressure of thinking someone can swoop in and outbid you for whatever you're talking about.
Probably all kinds of what-ifs that we'll never hear about because there's time to soberly think about how high a return price really is.

I imagine it's non-stop without the pressure of thinking someone can swoop in and outbid you for whatever you're talking about.

I’m inclined to agree. But I also think if one contender manages an actual big move, a clumsy arms race will ensue.
