But you can probably just take your whole code and final paper, dump it into Claude Code and brainstorm together what demo would make sense and then build it in a couple hours

It's a lot yes but reviews are also so noisy anyways in ai that you might as well just do good science and hope for the best. No reason to game something that's so noisy perhaps...

But yes rebuttaling is an art and if you're junior, you better listen to the senior and their tricks

Yes agreed it's frustrating! Part of it is also not wanting to give any attack surface to reviewers in the main paper (by eg mentioned limitations or confusions of the method)
