The Net Zero Industrial Policy Lab at Johns Hopkins University invites you to a webinar presentation of our groundbreaking new analysis of China’s foreign direct investment in overseas clean-tech manufacturing. The China low carbon technologies FDI database is a preliminary part of the broader Global Low Carbon Technology FDI database, hosted by NZIPL and GDP Center at Boston University. A rapid acceleration in overseas investment by Chinese green technology firms is reshaping the global clean-tech landscape. Since 2022 alone, overseas Chinese investments have surged past USD 220 billion, spanning sectors such as batteries, solar, wind, new energy vehicles (NEVs), and green hydrogen. These investments now reach 54 countries across every major region. 11/11 At the moment when climate action is most urgent and clean energy is becoming the cheapest power source globally, the US is walking away from the ambition to lead (or participate) in that transition. China is ready to fill that vacuum.

A local columnist seriously misunderstands why climate legislation fails in the California legislature — it's not that we have weak evidence or bad arguments — it's that the oil companies are major campaign funders decade after decade, which buys them real power.

1) The preferred geopolitical weapon of the modern US empire has been the imposition of energy starvation.

2) The primary strategic vulnerability of China is that they are reliant upon energy imports.
