Two years ago, many of the world's biggest dairy and food companies formed a coalition to cut the methane emissions from their suppliers' herds.

Nestlé has quietly exited the effort, @benelgin.bsky.social reports [gift link]

Please, Fox News, show video of this. I look forward to the snarling pundits explaining the threat posed by inflatable animal terrorists.

Good reporting on the South Shore raid from South Side weekly here.

Confirms one thing I was told but didn't put in my own piece because I didn't have a second source and it seemed too insane: border agents segregated arrested residents by race

Federal Agents Storm South Shore Building, Detaining Families and Children

The combination of personal experience that's relatable and good marketing to create new audiences seems plausible to me.

Could also be because that's the age at which people establish music preferences. They spend the rest of their life going back to musicians they discovered then, so speaking to the high school experience is good marketing.

Why Are We So Nostalgic for Music We Loved as Teenagers?

A decade after it was written, I find myself pulling out the @cingraham.bsky.social's gerrymandering explanation to help people understand why California’s Prop. 50 is so important to pass.

This is the best explanation of gerrymandering you will ever see
By simplifying gerrymandering we see how problematic it really is.

Picture here is from 1992. LA riots. Ive seen this called bad news judgment. In any real journalism outfit this is more like a firing offense. I basically say such things. Beyond belief.

Y'all who keep lecturing protesters to "not give them an excuse" need to pause for a minute. Imagine yourself telling a DV victim, "Be sure not to mouth off or make any mistakes so he won't hit you. Don't give him an excuse! It's what he wants!" That's what you fools sound like.

very cool that if you are working on behalf of right-wing culture warriors, you no longer need standing to have your claim adjudicated by the supreme court
tomscocca.bsky.social
It's not just that they're going to strike down a law against conversion therapy, it's that they're going to do it on behalf of made-up claims from a straw plaintiff who can't honestly show the law affected her at all
tomscocca.bsky.social
One thing about American's widespread distrust and disapproval of the Supreme Court is that mainstream news coverage mostly doesn't dwell on stuff like standing, so people don't even begin to grasp how rigged the Court truly is www.nytimes.com/live/2025/10...
