My neighborhood bullies made my childhood a shitty shitty time, but the only insult I can remember is the few weeks one of them tried to make calling me “the walking encyclopedia” a thing. 8 year old Beth was baffled - why were these assholes complimenting me?

I left my kindle on the Acela one time, and now I get anxious and triple check if I have it in my bag after leaving the station. Probably would be smarter to do that before leaving the train, though.

After close to six hours (thanks, delays) on the train, I'm in Boston, off to hotel and then family Christmas etc. Hooray for a few days of boymoding except when my youngest sibling and I can sneak away?

My train has been stopped for the last like 45 minutes waiting for a downed tree to be removed from the tracks ahead of us. We just got an announcement that started "the train is being cut down, oops, I mean the tree is being cut down."

I'm listening to Dvorak's 9th Symphony and just hit the fourth movement, aka WALTER/Gunther's indy and nxt entrance music, and I half expected a very large Austrian man in a black leather longcoat and trunks to stride into the train car, put his hands behind his back, and glare at us.

First time actually traveling on Christmas Eve, and it's a bit weird. I've never seen a higher density of families with suitcases waiting for Amtrak in NYC.

I walked almost five miles today in these boots I bought at a thrift shop yesterday, the first time I've worn heels for any extended period of time. I think my calves may fall off.

I wandered through the gigantic Bloomingdale’s in Manhattan. I was on my way around it anyway and was curious. And lo, so many ultra high end brands and $500+ sweaters! To be fair, some of those sweaters were quite nice, but not $500 nice.

Thanks to switching bsky accounts, I completely forgot about @hutchinsondave.bsky.social's latest and finally started it today. I'm about a quarter in and it's fucking amazing, right up my alley - I'm getting the same vibes I did from my first read of Europe in Autumn so many years ago.
