I wonder if there was a bill that Congress voted on in 2021-2022 that would have banned gerrymandering in every state.

Or another one in 2019.

Or a landmark Supreme Court case seeking to end it in 2019.

Now to find out how every Republican voted on each of tho—oh, they were unanimously opposed
California Republican suddenly supporting a national partisan gerrymandering ban. IT’S GAME THEORY BABY THINK OF THE STRATEGERY, WE PLAYING DEFECT-DEFECT NOT DEFECT-COOPERATE, IT’S TIT FOR TAT, CONSIDER THE INCENTIVES

Elon Musk donated $277 million to Trump so he could steal the federal government’s data, dismantle the nation’s infrastructure, and stop foreign aid from going to nonwhite people. It’s a quid pro quo breathtaking in scope, corruption, and damage, & completely unprecedented in American history.
Bye bye, “DOGE”.

It no longer exists as a “centralized entity”, according to the Office of Personnel Management.

My hometown. Lexington is a town of only about 11,500. So many families just had the rug pulled out from under them. Not a person in this town whose life or livelihood isn’t affected by this closure.

It's not a sophisticated reaction, but my response to both "quiet, piggy" and the Coast Guard okaying swastikas and nooses is a deep sadness that the compassion we're working so hard to foster in our children will not just be challenged by schoolyard bullies but by the highest levels of society.

The Dems have been effectively protecting Americans from the GOPs worst ideas for decades - warning that the ideas are terrible. The GOP finally got to enact its worst ideas and it turns out they are terrible.
BEHIND THE CURTAIN: Republicans aren't only losing elections, they're consistently losing support on prices and the economy, in all polls, big or small, Republican or Democrat, over a several-month period.

You can't spin yourself out of reality.
Behind the Curtain: Republicans see dire 2026 warning signs in these 5 polls

The Eric Schickler essay in Larry Bartel's symposium on "What Trump Has Taught Us About Political Science" is one of the most insightful pieces I've read in 2025.

US institutions turned out to be weak, and we have to rethink conventional wisdom.

Misinformation *is* central to democratic problems today, but the solution is *not* to correct such epistemic failures directly. Instead, we must address them at their roots, in social identity.

Or so I argue in a new post for @apaphilosophy.bsky.social.

Doubts about the wisdom of the masses are as old as philosophy itself. Yet interest in democracy’s “epistemic” merits has surged in the last decade—and it is no mystery why. Democracy is collapsing ar...

Parties are shells that are continuously remade. Compare Ds/Rs in 1868, 1904, 1932, 1972, & today on class, race, gender, immigration, & religion.

Most of us want more parties, but that isn’t* viable w/o proportional representation.

Since 1972, all nominees are directly chosen by voters. Do that.

The President pardoned members of his private militia after they failed to overturn an election; they, in turn, pledge their support to him and urge him to use them to police civil society.
New:

On The Gateway Pundit's podcast yesterday, Stewart Rhodes announced he's relaunching the Oath Keepers

He also urged Trump to “call us up as a militia" & "order us all to come together in our counties under his command."

Will be amazing when SCOTUS realizes that Congress has other powers also.
Supreme Court justices of all stripes had some tough questions for the Trump administration, making pretty clear two things:

1. Tariffs are taxes
2. Congress has the power to tax, not the president
