Y'all need to use Voiceink for voice dictation.
It's fast, 100% local, open source, compilable from the GitHub repo, and no subscription fee. Replaced Wisprflow with it and it's just as fast and accurate.

Decided to take the stairs instead of the elevator today, and I found a $10 bill just sitting there.

I'm building a file explorer in React + Rust. And @tauri.app is AMAZING for accessing the file system safely 👀

I've been working on a markdown-based notes app in my garage, and I've slowly realized... I think I want a file explorer 🫠
I wish Finder had preview panes for files to:
- Edit markdown in rich text
- Plan, crop, and compress screen recordings
- Annotate images
So that's what I'm gonna build

Huge, huge shoutout to @tantacrul.bsky.social for the work he's done for music production OSS.
Been following the youtube for a while, and this deep dive on UX challenges building Audacity 4 was incredible. Taking notes, thank you sir 🙏

💡 Here are two tips you probably haven’t heard before to make React apps feel native. Friendly to web devs, Tauri devs, and Electron devs alike!

My quest continues to build "Apple Notes, but markdown and cross-platform."
Big changes:
Switched from Svelte to React
Switched from raw ProseMirror to TipTap
Switched from opening files to writing files to a directory automatically, complete with file name generation ✨

💡Tip: if you need to add keyboard shortcut banners to your app, you can find all the shortcut symbols in that Raycast emoji picker

I still vibe with this problem, but I don't like the solution anymore. My goal is to build a notetaking solution that's as easy to use as apple notes, and as powerful for organization as Notion. And I think that means a whole new app. And, yes, AI.

🤯 What, Chrome has an AI summarizer API built in now??
- No API keys, no internet. Runs locally
- Downloads the model on-demand
- Available as a global in the latest version of Chrome. Works in chrome extensions too
I have so many chrome extension ideas now...

Okay, @tldraw.com is the best whiteboarding app 🏆
- Attention to detail off-the-charts. Even the dashes resize to always stay symmetrical
- Keyboard shortcuts are snappy. shift+2 to focus a selection, shift+1 to see everything
- Available as an SDK to embed anywhere

I've been annoyed with notetaking apps for a while. And after 5-10 false starts... I think I figured out what to build.
It's not a markdown editor, and it's not an all-in-one solution. But it's (hopefully) a really cool and powerful idea. Curious what y'all think:

🔥 The MacOS Stickies app is so underrated.
- Little floating windows to take notes throughout the day
- Can pin/float on top of whatever you're doing
- Can color-coat to organize thoughts
...Probably hasn't been changed since the 90s, but you can't knock stable software

🔥 Mingcute has been my go-to icon library for a while.
- Open source and open license
- "Cute" and bubbly icon style with more options than most
- Really nice Figma plugin
- Iconify support to use in any web project
