Thoroughly enjoying my Christmas present, which includes surprise references to places I know. (Just read about Tewkesbury Abbey & All Saints Hereford on the same page!) As an English major, I learned most of my history via poetry so this is a dream book for me. Thanks, @cathamclarke.bsky.social!

Tall people kept pushing in front of me at a gig at the Roundhouse in Camden. Fine, but annoying, so I shook my fist at one of them. Afterwards my (now) husband told me it was Kate Nash.
Right folks. Feeling rather down at the moment so bringing back an oldie

Dreamy. 1930s is my favourite era for fancy dresses.
An icicle in dress form, it is a glittering column of sequin covered tulle in opal iridescence and silver leaves. It consists of three layers of tulle which form a foamy hem. Evening dress, #1930s @chertseymuseum.bsky.social #FashionHistory 🗃️🪡

Full marks to Gloucester Cathedral, who offered me my own sticker for doing the Chris trail.

Wishing you all a beautiful Twixtmas. Winter can be a challenging time; I hope you all find many joyous moments in spite of any grief or loneliness that may be weighing you down.

I often forget I contributed to this. It was a long time ago and really not my finest writing. However, it was a great project led by Jacqueline Barlow and quite relevant to today's BlueSky conversations: thatsnotonline.tumblr.com/archive

When we say "no, everything hasn't been digitized," I need you to understand that we really mean is that virtually nothing has been digitized. This is because the realm of primary sources that historians use is incomprehensibly large.

And in sermon mode: 'The eye of the Lord upon mee, makes midnight noone, and S. Lucies day S. Barnabies; It makes Capricorne Cancer, and the Winters the Summers Solstice . . . and turnes the jealousie of the sad soule into infallibility.' (Sermon on Ps. 32.8)
Since she enjoys her long night's festival,
Let me prepare towards her, and let me call
This hour her vigil, and her eve, since this
Both the year's, and the day's deep midnight is.

A very Erasmus kind of day: 15 gorgeous Erasmus texts out for a reader, plus the news. Such a weird coincidence!

My favorite Christmas ornament is out! Bought at a Christmas Market in Hannover sometime in the 2010s, it's currently on a vintage tablecloth embroidered by my mum.

Today I'm working from home, but the library assistant has just told me two researchers who've never met before are having a chat about medieval poetry.❤️This is the best part of the job, the ability to foster learning and community.

Writing up minutes is the worst, isn't it? This was a particularly traumatic meeting for me as well. May require a whole pint of tea for this.

Today a volunteer made me a cup of tea, but put it in a colleague's mug. I drink it to be polite (after surreptitiously asking colleague's permission) but it felt so very wrong.

Lunchtime would be better without a recycling bin. Eating in the kitchen because it is currently the only building space I can be in without fingerless gloves and a scarf.
