It makes for a moodier photo though with the lights and without the pile up of bikes I saw when I rode past.

Ooph, yeah I guess that whole place is pretty much a shrine to gluten containing things, with their pizza too. There's kindred too just off the path.

We plan to measure the pollution soon. We'd have rather seen improvements to the existing offroad bike path underneath and more protected lanes put in elsewhere to build a network.
We hope the novelty of this brings enough riders to drive further investment.

Should be open now

Still confused about what's going to be open and what's not. I'm guessing nothing from the Veloway connecting to Hyde st given how things looked this evening. But hopefully everywhere else.

Well that confirms it!

Certainly more exciting than a tunnel that spends most of its time elevated. Looking forward to some more truck bans too.

Yeah, we got some tips from MTAG, those guys and gals know a thing or two about air quality. I don't think we'll have it up and running till next year though.

We're definitely seeing a lot of complaints. I'm sure we'll have words. They might be more likely to listen to BN though. BN had a survey sign asking for veloway feedback www.surveymonkey.com/r/XGTNCBP

Yeah that way would work ok too. Although I'm not sure what the current state of Hyde st near Yarraville gardens is. They're working on making it dual direction protected to be part of the federation trail.

I'm no road engineer, but it looks ready to me. Definitely not officially opened though.

BikeWest is advocating that the Victorian state gov and city of Maribyrnong commit to building WestLink. Maybe the Feds could pay for it (like Albo committed to back in 2016)!

This is the route I would take currently. ridewithgps.com/routes/53468...
Fed trail to veloway
Federation trail in Yarraville to veloway before the extensions open - 5.2 km, +26 m. Bike ride in Yarraville, Victoria

The federation trail currently ends at Fogarty ave, yarraville. There's no eta for the two extensions that will link it to the veloway directly. If you're ok with quiet backstreets and painted bike lanes I can give you a route.

Definitely. We're trying on that front too.
