I lived in Victoria while Lisa Helps was mayor before I moved to Halifax in 2019. I biked to work every day, it saved me money and made me healthier. I was optimistic when moving here because of the “Active Transportation Plan”.
My bike has been collecting dust ever since.

The “one weird trick” was political will. Victoria had a progressive mayor, Lisa Helps, who ran with the ball and got it done quickly. And obviously Victorians really support the idea of addressing the climate emergency and investing in public health and affordability.
