A male rock ptarmigan (Lagopus muta) in winter plumage.
Ptarmigan is from Gaelic 'tarmachan' meaning "croaker". The p- was added when people mistakenly assumed it was a Greek word.

Ha HA! I was already deep in depression's thrall when the various turds hit the fan. Can't feel horror and despair in regards to world events when your already lost in the mire! I gotta say, through. Mire is getting pretty crowded. Which is usually not something often said about a mire...
Fellow artists: curious how you stay inspired, especially in light of the oppressive presence of AI and general turmoil in the world.
Everything is making me so tired. My instinct to avoid and withdraw is quite high these days.
