Welcome new followers!

Some of you don't necessarily know the whole story of *why* I care so much about the rise of the far right, about countering terrorism, and about building peaceful and thriving societies.

This video is a pretty good intro.

So far, I'm really happy with them - they've been worn to mountains and the woods, but also meetings, and conferences all over Europe (they go well with a suit) - really excited to have found some boots that can survive coming along for my adventures for a very long time

Last year, we visited Djerba for fall break, so we have been to Tatooine too ;-)
bjornih.bsky.social
Tatooine was filmed in Djerba, Matmata, Sidi Bouhlel, Tozeur, Ksar Ouled Soltane, and Ksar Hadada, Ghomrassen and named after Tataween, which are in Tunisia but largely belong to the At Willol region of the Amazigh people, which my wife is from, albeit from Zuwara which currently is in Libya.

Today, I made a very cool pilgrimage to Tvergastein - the cabin where the philosopher and mountaineer Arne Næss spent 14 years and wrote most of his books. It's been an amazing day! Gonna share more about this hike at some point.

Russian-linked vessels are continuing to leak oil off Europe’s shores — despite Western sanctions — underscoring the continent’s inability to rein in Moscow’s so-called shadow fleet.

I'd love to see good footage of these drones if anyone has it, but until then, I'm increasingly filing these away in my head as We're Doing Phantom Airships Again

Last week saw much politicised discourse on how extremist threats across the spectrum are perceived and quantified.

President Trump designated Antifa as a "domestic terrorist organisation."

Thank you - it's indeed been a wild ride in the world of counter terrorism lately. The detachment from reality is real!

By continuing to fight for our independence and integrity, we aim to prevent the strategic blind spots that come with politically motivated attempts to undermine evidence-based data and the credibility of our field.

This is vital as we strive towards our mission of creating a safer world for all.

We will strive to remain true to our values and our aspirations for a data-driven, ideologically agnostic, and nuanced approach to understanding and countering all forms of violent extremism and terrorism.
