To be clear this isn't about actual religious beliefs but the presentation of these two groups as fundamental enemies, moreso than any religions. That messaging makes it easier for anyone to throw up their hands and say "it's complicated" or "it goes back so far" when it comes to Israeli genocide.

One thing I'm thinking a lot about recently is how it was always presented to me as an anicent, inherent truth--something built into the texts--that Jews and Muslims exist in opposition to each other. And how absurd that is. But accepting that is part of what's required to sell genocide.
