Any time a politician says we should leave the ECHR, the very next questions any interviewer should ask are
🚨Which human rights are you willing to lose personally
🚨Which methods of torture are you going to allow people to be sent to face
🚨Which family members would you be willing to lose

A bit of stormwatching in Porthleven. A NW isn't the wind for the big waves into the harbour but it was still fresh and invigorating...

“A fire broke out backstage in a theatre. The clown came out to warn the public; they thought it was a joke and applauded. He repeated it; the acclaim was even greater. I think that’s just how the world will come to an end: to general applause from wits who believe it’s a joke.”

Dorrit Black is a significant painter in Australia for bringing a form of cubism to the country in the late 1920s. This picture shows the village of Mirmande in the Drôme Valley, France, where her mentor André Lhote founded a summer art school.

I struggle to take any of this seriously if I’m honest because I genuinely believe if all social media got deleted tomorrow, this would all just stop. So much of our public culture, life, discourse and disharmony is drafted from, amplified by and made real by phone addiction. It’s all fake.

At holiday times ... (1962)

“At holiday times the roads are often packed with cars, all going to the seaside. Then police cars and motorcycles are not able to keep the traffic moving”

Artist: John Berry
The Policeman, 1962
A photo realist illustration looking down on a long straight road packed with cars (from the 1950s and 60s, of course). There are no lane markings painted, adding to the confusion

Jesus and the Devil, caught at a Coldplay gig
A medieval artwork, in colour, which depicts a scaly, brown devil (who has chicken feet, a tail and visible vertebrae) carrying Jesus away into the hills. Jesus is a pale-skinned man with brown hair and beard, wearing an orangey robe. He has a strangely stiffened posture, as if paralysed.

Monday? Again? 🥺

#MondayMotivation

📷 Sue Wood
A young Long-tailed Tit perches on a slender green branch, facing slightly upwards with a wide-eyed, solemn expression. Its fluffy grey and white feathers make it look round and puffy, with dark eye markings that give it a concerned or mournful appearance. The soft green leaves behind it are gently blurred, giving the image a calm, leafy feel.
