I'm bad at picking "favorites" per se, but here are some characters from this year that have stuck with me and I love each of them for various reasons.
Cider from Absolum. A non-binary system (it's complicated) who has an extensible arm and a deep fear of the sea. A picture of Alta from Wanderstop. She's workin' through some burnout. Big same. A picture of Junjiro from Assassin's Creed Shadows. Perhaps one of maybe five kid sidekicks that is not only not obnoxious but is pretty endearing. Tony Maloney's introduction screen from TÖLT. Tony is a horse. He likes to run. He also likes you, and would like to see you be happy and stick around for a while. You are happy now, aren't you? You're not... gonna go away again?

I think this is now the most beautiful book I own. Yes, it’s Adrian’s text (as good as ever) and Anderida did amazing work here, from typography to binding, etc. but my lord, Ian McQue’s art goes f-ing hard.
