when I was defending itch I heard from a lot of - frankly to my shock - other queers who were like "it's a platform, platforms are the enemy" and until we're able to distinguish _as users_ the ways in which worker owned services aren't your enemy and deserve grace, we won't be seeing very many

the thing about asking for a worker owned anything on the web is that the pitch has to account for the fact that the website is going to - innately - be slower to add features, slower to respond to issues, have financial struggles, etc

big gothic castle in quake from last year. didn't make it for any other reason than I was using it to make new textures and enjoying myself.

Also! Later Quake games used the map format for editing still, just with more features. Even Doom 3 was using an advanced version of the map format. The BSP format started with Quake 1.

At the end of the day, they have their own considerations, but I prefer the map format for Godot.

And at the end of the day, you wouldn't be reading BSPs directly really, you'd be converting the BSPs into a format that Godot can understand, similar to how Godot turns GLTF files into Packed Scenes on import, with MeshInstance3Ds and Skeleton3Ds, etc...
