Are you illiterate? "Preset routes" does not mean "bounded area"

This is one of my favorite takes. I’m sure people would love a 30-day delay on having their images posted so they can be reviewed by hand and also it’s Good Actually to make humans look at some of the most heinous images in existence all day
The Bluesky Head of Trust & Safety admitting that all posted images are processed through an Al autolabeller that presumably employees have no access to or control over? (And probably steals every image to be used in an Al "art" generator, who knows?)
Seriously, this is outrageously irresponsible.

I *think* the context was talking about self driving stuff more generally, but I'm not super confident of that

I'm guessing they deleted it because it was QTed by at least one large account

If a) Waymo exists, and b) the highlighted bit is true, I assume you'll have no difficulty pointing me to the fixed routes Waymos run on in San Francisco?

I actually think SF is a relatively hard city since it's made up of...I want to say 5 or 6? misaligned grids with messy interfaces, plus various hills which break those grids, create blind corners & crests, etc. Way easier than Boston, but much harder than eg Phoenix

It's the same level of out of touch with reality as like, asserting that Vegas doesn't have a hockey team on the basis that it didn't have one in 2015 so it can't have one today. I can show you the rink where they play! They won a Stanley Cup!

It's fascinating to me that there's a whole "AI skeptic" misinformation ecosystem out there that somehow continues to deny that Waymo exists. Like, this is easy to fact check! Waymo runs publicly-available service in 5 cities, you can just go look up how it works and see it's not planned routes!
A bluesky post with the user's handle cropped out: "In 2015, I was told, confidently, that AI would end human drivers in the trucking industry w/in 5 years.

[Begin my highlight]10 years later, and there’s what-some experimental cabs rolling around a few cities in heavily-engineered preset routes?[end my highlight]

Not to mention the fact that the AI industry itself is Enron on heroin."

Old: "my body is a machine which turns protobufs into other protobufs"
Bold: "my body is a machine which turns transforms (defined in protobufs, probably) into other transforms (defined in different protobufs)"

manifesting a better and also funnier world where zuck's artificial T finally convinces the EU to just fully eject a major US tech company

I feel like "Meta ceases to exist" specifically is a bad example because Meta is like, two orders of magnitude more badly run than any other major tech company and I can actually imagine a world where, against all odds, they find a way to bankrupt themselves

like honestly who knew there was a level of fascism even the Standard people would get angry about
bluespacecanary.bsky.social
Also that more of the companies engaged in it don't start just building their own servers, which given the volumes involved probably will make financial sense eventually (there's a reason Google started doing almost everything itself after a while, after all)
