I should clarify that I wouldn't think he'd normally do great in NYC, but he seems to have unique rhetorical and x-factor(?) gifts that seem well suited to this kind of interview.

He's also benefitting from the current situation here (hated incumbent - overall bad slate).

I'll add that living in a gay neighborhood in a city is a very smart move. Typically super clean, nice, cool, and great value compared to most other comparable neighborhoods.
