I'm having this surreal realization that standing up for evidence and data has become a politically polarizing position, and I don't know what to do about that.

i have to say, as a trans journalist who has covered the "trans debate" for about a decade now, there is no daylight between how the trump administration and conservatives lie about tylenol and autism and how they've lied about youth trans care.

Decades of research have found that acetaminophen is safe for children when administered as recommended. Misleading claims link the medicine to autism. These false claims send a dangerous message to parents and does a disservice to autistic individuals. www.aap.org/en/news-room...

Amish people do develop autism, they just don't get screened as often.

Are there any autistic Amish people?
Despite varying vaccination rates among Amish communities, autism is present, debunking the myth that vaccines cause autism and that the Amish do not have autism.

Finally on. Trump suggesting autism researchers lied, withheld information, one of the worst things to ever happen, went from 1:10,000 to 1 in 12 (boys in CA). No autism in folks who don't take vaccines (amish). Going great so far!
Oh COME ON just put us out of our misery.

My ACIP recap: 🧵

1) MMRV combo vaccine no longer recommended for children <4y. That means vaccine will not be covered by insurance, so not an option for patients. The 2 shot MMR and chickenpox vaccines are still available. This removes access. Let’s see which vaccine they will go for next!

Important news:
I wanted to get a video of this ghost crab but every time I got close to their hole they scuttled back in, so I tried getting clever with it. I made a little sandcastle and shoved my phone into it, hit record, and walked away. Crab was VERY suspicious of this addition to their environment.

I will try and make this brief - we have five years worth data but I think I can summarize in a few posts.

There it is: admitting they’re changing vaccine policy to address ‘concerns,’ not because of any scientific evidence. ACIP’s mandate is to follow data, not public opinion. When you sacrifice evidence-based medicine to appease political constituencies, children pay the price.

The hearing is starting. Cassidy notes that doctors need to trust data coming out of the CDC. Notes that CDC Director requires Senate confirmation because it’s such an important role. 💪

Her firing points to a failure of either the Senate or the Admin. It’s both. Both put RFKJ in charge.
