To be clear, if this happened, Trump's people would just rush some new charge on Maduro as they've done in all their other various retribution cases that we've seen thus far. But it would still be a profound humiliation to the regime that would bring me intense personal joy.

Honestly, given this administration's track record with court cases of all stripes ever since it came into office, there's a slim but non-zero chance that Maduro gets off scot-free in this case on some kind of technicality and if he does I am going to laugh myself to within an inch of my own life.
looking forward to lawyers telling me that i'm wrong (legitimately), but, to an idiot (me), this, uh, does not seem like the strongest case you can bring forward.
