Scammers pretending to be the WA DMV, and claiming that my license will be suspended in two days for unpaid traffic fines.

This is a really good trick, as I don’t have a license and haven’t driven a vehicle in 30 years.

I want to post the “always was” meme in response to this. There was never a time when this tech wasn’t dangerous and destructive to the environment. It’s baked into the scale necessary to do it to begin with.

This will clearly have no long-term negative effects on the economy at all. Totally positive. Only upsides. Not in the least bit a red flag that the economy has lost diversity and collapse is imminent. Totally fine.

Sadly, there are a lot of towns without official town sorcerers. My town doesn't have one. I'm not even the UNOFFICIAL town sorcerer. That's my friend Gareth, keeper of the local cryptid lore, and documentarian of our liminal spaces. None of us can buy an official town sorcerer staff.

The only real reason I'd ever want to become famous as a writer is so I can be asked to blurb a book by @wiswell.bsky.social, who not only writes the kinds of stories I want to read, but writes stories I wish I'd written. Yeah, there's a tad bit of jealousy involved, but mostly just awe.

One of the more incredible stories out of LA this year has been how a taco review blog became the best on-the-ground coverage of ICE raids in the city.

They do a dispatch every day, follow-up on the kidnapped people (which almost no media outlet has done), and fact-check government claims.

I loathe Richard M. Nixon to this day, but I have to admit certain things. His work ethic was admirable. He was a good father to his two daughters. He did manage to accomplish some good while in office.

Donald J. Trump makes Nixon look practically saintly. He makes me yearn for Nixon.
