Literally won almost everything possible from 1951-1959 including 2xOlympic🥇in 1952 & 1956 and 3xPanAm🥇in 1951, '55, & '59

Triple Jumping 16m may not seem that far today, but he set the WR on 5 occasions between 1950-1956

Great to see more African sprinters getting recognition. Africa massively on the rise in the shorter stuff. Tebogo, Simbine, Omanyala, Balaza are the flag bearers, but there's now a clutch of Botswanans, South Africans and Zimbabweans too.
✍🏻 Kentucky's Tapiwanashe "Carlie" Makarawu has signed an NIL deal with On.

Makarawu is coming off a summer in which he competed at his first Olympics and reached the 200m final, where he finished sixth. He is the Zimbabwe 200m record holder with a PB of 19.93.

I have nothing but sympathy for these athletes but at least they got justice and saw the dopers disqualified and banned. There are hundreds- maybe thousands - of athletes who finished their careers knowing they were cheated out of medals and rewards by rivals who took drugs and were never caught.

Most of us need to focus on the 99%, not the 1%.

We are seeking the silver bullet when the reality is we need to zoom back out and nail the basics before we even consider the final 1 percent.

Potentially a big development in the race to host the 2036 Olympic and Paralympic Games with South Africa holding talks today with the IOC in Lausanne. An African country has never hosted the Games. It is widely expected that if they do bid, then Cape Town would be the city they put forward.
