Calling English a 'rip-off degree' is one of the most blatant exhibitions of personal barbarism I've ever seen. You've demonstrated nothing but the poverty of your own mind.

Omg, got to show the wife Doris Lessing being ambushed outside her house by reporters on winning the Nobel Prize. She hadn't seen. One of my favourite author moments ever. If you haven't watched, you're missing out. Her day was ruined. youtu.be/vuBODHFBZ8k

I gave up everything except this a year or so ago and it was much easier than I thought. Worth it.

After many years of use, my Pixel 6 started to swell in the battery and push the screen out of the chassis. So I got a new one. Pixel 10. Great phone, except the default font looks like it might be comic sans and there's no way to change it. I'm sort of horrified. I'm not sure I can handle it.

Open AI: "We're totally going to steal your shit unless you tell us not to."

That is not how copyright law works
kortizart.bsky.social
Ridiculous and appalling that Open Ai, amongst other GenAi companies, think they can dictate how THEY use OUR works.

No, Open Ai, it should not be authors and copyright holders opting out of your exploitative models. It should be you, Open Ai, asking authors and copyright holders to opt IN.
OpenAI's new Sora video generator to require copyright holders to opt out, WSJ reports
OpenAI is planning to release a new version of its Sora video generator that creates videos featuring copyrighted material, unless copyright holders opt out of having their work appear, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday, citing people familiar with the matter.

I'm starting to think we need to bring back a constructive form of shame, which @olufemiotaiwo.bsky.social makes a great case for in this excellent piece:

“Green” spotted at a well-known chain bookstore and at a public library!

Guess which sighting made me feel better!
Spines of poetry books on a shelf. Book with green cover, entitled “green”, and library stickers displayed on a shelf.

Not exactly surprised by Merve Emre's response to the question: "Where and When Do You Read ?" but: respect/admiration/envy. An ideal I only sometimes manage to approach. (Via @sansip.bsky.social ) linkst.thecut.com/view/6356a9c...
