- and I’ve just finished a solid first draft of The Elixir, follow up (this October) to my bestselling teaching book The Alchemy. I’ve done close readings of it to explain what I tried to do in a few of the book’s chapters. In essence I made myself its prime reader and thus gave it context & readers

So Saving Lucia. I felt this was a book that should have been an important book - not because I’m important, but because it looks at genuinely new things and is also adjacent to scholarship on Joyce. I’ve felt it as grief but I’ve found a way to heal. It was a text in the DPhil literature review -
