4-H youth joined #Agriculture Agent, Rusty, and local Cattleman, Gary Anderson for an in-depth discussion on beef cattle. With a hands-on activity, they learned how important it is to get your hay tested and to properly meet the nutritional requirements of our livestock.

There was a great turnout for the Treats and Stockings - #Horse Club Educational Hours. Youth learned about various treats that are good for horses, create a #stocking for their favorite 4-legged friend, and even decorated a few treats for themselves to enjoy!

Check out the incredible before and after of our Nature Center trails. Thanks to many hardworking volunteers a large area of our blue trail was cleared of #honeysuckle.

This month our 4-H #rabbit club learned all about showing their rabbits and practiced showmanship in front of a 'judge.' The also discussed how they keep their rabbits safe and warm during #WinterWeather and learned best practices on managing rabbit health in freezing temps.

Last month participants learned all about the art of making a whisk broom. Made from broom corn, this craft is rich in history and cultural significance. Handmade whisk brooms can be used in a practical manner for cleaning, but also as a display piece. #Kentucky #Extension #Art #WhiskBroom

Two of our Boone County youth represented #Kentucky this week at the National 4-H Livestock Contests. Huge congratulations to Pollyanna and Colton, and all of the youth who represented Kentucky 4-H, for their achievements as they competed against teams from across the nation.
Pollyanna proudly holding the belt buckle she won. Pollyanna joined the Kentucky 4-H Quiz Bowl Team helping them achieve Reserve Grand. The Kentucky 4-H Livestock Judging Team for 2025. Colton was a part of the Kentucky 4-H Livestock Judging Team who placed 8th Overall in Swine.

The County Agricultural Investment Program (CAIP) is a cost-share assistance program that is aimed at helping Kentuckians increase net farm income, improve farm efficiency and productivity, and afford the opportunity to try innovative technologies. Our Wildcat Walkers completed their 12-Week challenge, did you? Setting goals and meeting with friends for small challenges can be great motivation to keep moving. Don't forget to stretch and warm up, especially when the weather is cold.
